This tea towel began as a large-scale painting: a protea rendered in a loose and expressive style, full of boldness and wild beauty that this flower carries in the Cape landscape. It is one of my favourite subjects, and one I return to again and again in my studio.
Once the painting was finished, I carefully digitised the artwork so it could live beyond the canvas. This tea-towel is the first homeware piece to carry it, and it is part of my very first production run, so you are getting something genuinely new.
I wanted to bring original art into everyday spaces, not necessarily framed on a wall (though I love that too), but present in the ordinary moments. A morning coffee, a kitchen full of light, a little functional beauty where you least expect it.
