Urban Sketching Workshop with Di Metcalf

Join us for an Urban Sketching workshop with Di Metcalf.

Di will Introduce you to the story behind urban sketching and the international movement that has inspired sketchers across the globe to record their towns and cities, one drawing at a time.

From there, she'll guide you through practical techniques and tips for sketching in the field, with a strong focus on perspective, so you can approach buildings and streetscapes with more confidence.

You'll receive a concertina journal to work in and a handout to take home, and Di will bring along extra materials for you to try. She'll also share her advice on putting together a simple, portable kit for sketching on the go.

What to bring: Nothing special. Just your favourite sketching tool, whether that's a fineliner, fountain pen or pencil. An A4 clipboard will be useful.

Included: Concertina journal, handout, and use of additional materials on the day.

Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners.

Details:
Saturday 7 November 2026, 09:00 to 12:00 at The Athenaeum in Newlands
